Adani Energy Wins Rs 25,000 Crore Bhadla-Fatehpur HVDC Project

Adani Energy Wins Rs 25,000 Crore Bhadla-Fatehpur HVDC Project

Adani Energy Secures Rs 25,000 Crore Bhadla-Fatehpur HVDC Project: A Milestone in India's Energy Infrastructure

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd (AESL), formerly known as Adani Transmission Ltd, has achieved its largest project win to date by securing the Rs 25,000 crore High Voltage Direct Current (HVDC) project connecting Bhadla (Rajasthan) to Fatehpur (Uttar Pradesh). This landmark project strengthens AESL’s position as a leading player in India's growing power and energy transmission sector.

Key Highlights of the Project

  1. Project Value: ₹25,000 crore – AESL’s largest project win to date.
  2. Transmission Network Expansion: With this project, AESL’s under-execution order book soars to ₹54,761 crore, while the transmission network expands to 25,778 circuit kilometers (ckm).
  3. Transformation Capacity: Increases to a staggering 84,186 MVA, showcasing AESL’s commitment to building a robust and efficient power grid.
  4. Award Mechanism: The project was awarded under the Tariff-Based Competitive Bidding (TBCB) mechanism, coordinated by REC Power Development & Consultancy Ltd (RECPDCL).
  5. Project Transfer Date: The Special Purpose Vehicle (SPV) for the project was formally handed over to AESL on January 20, 2025.

Strategic Importance of the Bhadla-Fatehpur HVDC Project

The Bhadla-Fatehpur HVDC transmission line is critical for ensuring seamless energy flow between Rajasthan, one of India’s largest solar hubs, and Uttar Pradesh, a key industrial and economic region. This project aligns with India’s focus on achieving a 500 GW renewable energy target by 2030.

  • Enhanced Grid Reliability: The HVDC line ensures reduced energy loss and improved efficiency in power transmission.
  • Renewable Energy Integration: Supports the national grid by transferring surplus solar power from Rajasthan to high-demand regions.
  • Sustainable Development: Reinforces India’s commitment to transitioning toward clean and green energy solutions.

Adani Energy’s Leadership in Power Transmission

Adani Energy Solutions Ltd has consistently demonstrated expertise in delivering high-value energy projects. This project win further solidifies its leadership in next-generation power transmission systems.

  • Vision for the Future: AESL focuses on building sustainable energy networks to support India’s rapid industrial and economic growth.
  • Commitment to Excellence: With innovations in power grid technology, AESL continues to push boundaries in renewable energy integration and infrastructure expansion.

Benefits of the Project

  1. Economic Growth: Enhanced power infrastructure supports industrial development in high-demand regions like Uttar Pradesh.
  2. Environmental Impact: Reduces dependency on fossil fuels by integrating renewable energy into the national grid.
  3. Technological Advancement: Adoption of HVDC technology ensures efficient long-distance power transmission with minimal losses.
